Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome! To help you prepare for your upcoming adventure, we’ve put together answers to our most common questions.
What happens if I cannot attend my class?
We do not offer refunds, credits, or reschedules if you are unable to attend your class.
This policy is essential to ensure our organization can continue to operate and offer these programs. If you find you cannot attend, you have a few options:
Gift or Sell: You are welcome to gift or sell your ticket to someone in your network. You’ll need to let us know who is coming in your place, and they’ll need to sign a waiver.
Scholarship Donation: You can donate your ticket to our scholarship fund, and if we can resell your ticket, a low-income community member will have the opportunity to take a class later in the year. Please note that a scholarship is only created if we are able to successfully resell your spot. Last-minute cancellations are especially difficult to fill. If we have enough time to find a new participant for your spot, we will gladly move those funds to the scholarship pool. If we are unable to resell the spot, your registration fee is used to cover the fixed operational costs of the class for that date.
We are often asked: Why can’t you offer a credit for a future class?
We get dozens of monthly requests to cancel and receive a credit, all for valid reasons, such as injury, illness, car trouble, unexpected work, lack of childcare, weather conditions, etc. We feel for our participants whenever this happens. We never want anyone to miss out!
The reason we cannot extend credit is that our permits allow for a very specific number of people on limited dates each season. Once a class date passes, that permit "space" is gone. Because we keep our groups small to provide a great experience, we rely on spots being filled to continue operating. If we granted all the requests we received, our classes would be only half full. To remain fair to everyone and keep prices reasonable, we have had to create a blanket policy of no refunds or credits for missed sessions.
Can I bring my dog?
We love our furry friends, but we don't allow dogs at our classes. We have found that having dogs present can be a significant distraction for the group, from barking to accidentally trampling the mushrooms or plants we are trying to study. If your dog is safe and able to settle in the car, they are welcome to stay in your vehicle during class. Before the class starts, and after the class ends, you are welcome to have them out of the car, following site rules, such as on-leash. Otherwise, please leave them at home.
Are your classes family-friendly?
Yes! Kids are absolutely welcome. We include a suggested minimum age on our registration forms, but you know your child’s interests and attention span best.
Babes in arms: These little ones are free!
Parental Guidance: We ask that you manage your kiddos in a way that doesn't impede the learning of other participants. If they need extra care or are becoming restless, please be prepared to step away from the group for a bit.
What happens if my class is cancelled?
As an outdoor adventure program, we run rain or shine. However, your safety is our priority, and we don’t run classes in hazardous conditions. We make this call based on a combination of weather forecasting apps and the regional expertise of our instructors. If we are concerned about the possibility of having to cancel a class, we will notify you as far in advance as we can.
If we have to cancel a class, you will have the choice of:
Transferring to a new class date.
Receiving a one-year credit for a future session.
Donating your ticket to our scholarship pool.
A full refund.
